As a painter of abstract paintings, i depict nothing concrete, any representational associations happen unintended.

Nevertheless through the direct use of self-collected materials from nature, my works represent nature. There is a direct connection to our natural environment and my presence in it. I want to work with nature, cooperate with it. The sublimity of nature and the cooperation with it is my most important approach.

My work as a painter is defined by three aspects: collecting, processing the collected and creating works.

Always thinking about the later creative use, I collect material in our environment. I collect organic material in order to then make pigments from it. When collecting and processing, I proceed in an alchemical manner, as in refering to existing sources of information regarding recipes and procedures. Nevertheless, I experiment with new materials and thus find further interesting possibilities, which I can also include in my work.

I then use the materials to create works that cannot be clearly defined as paintings, but rather assemblages with

painted elements. The materials are crushed, applied as coarse pigment powder, but often also glued on as raw

material. The paintings are created spontaneously, with a searching and experimenting approach. The further project idea only develops during the process.

I mostly work on unstretched canvas, which allows the canvas to bulge and become an object. The images are no longer just two-dimensional. The canvas is detached from its function as only an image carrier and thus becomes an object itself.

Some of my canvases are hung in the room or in front of a wall, and not directly on the wall. They are objects in

space. Viewers can move around them. This way i also create installative, immersive works, next to my usual paintings.
